Foreign Investment, Joint Ventures, Cross-Border Transactions

KarimSyah, as well as her partners before her establishment, have a long a history of representing foreign companies in establishing and/or restructuring their businesses in Indonesia, and vice versa. There is a very strict procedure to obtain government approval for any foreign interest to take part in Indonesian companies or do business here and all of our lawyers keep fully updated on the regulations for such foreign investment approvals and structures. KarimSyah has always maintained a good relationship with the Investment Coordinating Board ("BKPM”), which administers foreign investment approvals, as well as with other relevant institutions, thereby enhancing the assistance we are able to provide our clients in establishing their domestic presence in Indonesia. We are also experienced in negotiating joint-venture and other financial and operational agreements with our clients' intended partners, both domestically and internationally, in order to achieve the most beneficial arrangements satisfactory to all parties.

On the contentious side, we have successfully assisted the government in almost all foreign direct investment arbitration cases involving Indonesia, and have assisted all nature of private entities in corporate disputes as well.
